Due to declining levels of estrogen the vaginal walls can become thinner and inflamed. This can lead to painful intercourse and a natural decline in the enjoyment of sex. For many women the symptoms of vaginal atrophy are too embarrassing to talk about. This is unfortunate as this silence and stoicism can lead to challenges in relationships.
