Hey im 21 years old and had a hysterectomy without taking the ovaries due to complications during child birth in July 2011. I noticed a little pain in my joints a couple weeks after surgery, but not servere. Its only been in the last 2 months that im waking up with really sore hands and fingers, i can hardly open my hands, my collar bone and shoulders hurt, my knees and ankles hurt and my wrists hurt. also when i sleep i notice that my hips, side of legs and groin hurt depending on what side im sleeping on. Its actually very exhausting being a single mother and having to deal with this pain. I feel really bad but somtimes it gets to the point where i dont want to pick my baby up, because its so painful. I have been to the doctors but they just said its probably due to the weight ive gained during my pregnancy.( even though im not that much bigger then i was before i was pregnant). I think thats a load of bull! I have a feeling its hormone related.
anybody else out there who has suffered from the same sort of thing?

HRT was ok but what I found here on Amberen opened my eyes to a better way to treat my menopause symptoms.

"I FEEL YOUR PAIN - LITERALLY" by: Sarah
I had a complete hysterectomy that threw me into menopause. At first I was okay and didn't have any symptons that women complain about. My surgery was 15 months ago. But about 6 months ago, that all changed. Every joint in my body is killing me. I am no longer the limber person that I was before surgery. I feel like a young 48 year old locked inside the now body of a 90 year old. I didn't go to the doctors about it because I don't have spare time; but I was forced to due to the increasing pain and immobility. My gynecologist put me on the lowest dosage of estrogen and I am taking calcium and vitamin D. The estrogen has only helped some - I am still not the person I was before surgery. I don't want to rely heavily on an estrogen patch and would absolutely love to find information on how best naturally to get back to what I was before.

joint pain in menopause by: Carol
I went off birth control last Sept and went into menopause. Within 2 months I had terrible joint pain. I would move around, sometimes arms, sometimes legs, shoulders, neck but always hands. I have been too several doctors about it (including a rhemotologist who told me to lose weight). They are say it's not hormone related but I know it is. I take celebrex every day but I don't want to be on it. I feel your pain - literally.
