If you had one question to ask, what would it be?

If you had one question to ask what would it be? Would you want to know the next lottery numbers or if you'd be rich and famous? At twenty it may be who your soulmate is, at thirty how you can succeed in your career. As a forty year old you may ask; will my kids grow up to be happy and successful? But what do you ask at fifty, when half of your living is done and the next half seems out of focus?  You may want clarity about the after life, or what existence really means.  You may ask what your purpose is or if their is something more you can do.  There is a shift, from an external questioning to one focused on the internal.

There's a commercial on TV for the 2010 Special Olympics.  A healthy looking thirty + year old who lost his leg is talking about how stoked he is to compete in the games.  He explains how he felt more alive in the years since the accident than he had for the previous thirty years. It struck me...hard.  We all need to be that alive in living. Walden said it best, "I want to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life...". I've read that so many times, quoted it in numerous lectures and posted it on the wall above my desk.  But it didn't impact me like this young man standing in front of a camera, with his totally animated expressions and infectious excitement over playing an extreme sport with only one leg. He looked and spoke like he was truly alive!

I want to participate and extract all the rich, juicy parts from life. I long to discover new information and connect with people and God on a profound and transforming level. I want to experience my purpose and meaning as fully as possible and I want to fully embrace my mission and know in which direction I must move.

My question?  Well, I could think of several but the one ultimate question would have to be:  "How can I be of service to the world?"

What would your question be?
