Lower Cortisol Levels by smelling Lavendar and rosemary

We've always known that lavendar makes us feel warm and fuzzy but now a recent study conducted at the Meikai University, Japan proves it!

Ladies, get out your essential oils and warm up the bath, cause it's time to lower cortisol levels and do a little destressing! Researchers at the university's School of Dentistry found that free radical scavenging activity (a good thing)was increased when participants sniffed the aroma of lavendar and rosemary for five minutes. They even measured cortisol levels in saliva and found that after sniffing the lovely fragrances levels dropped.

Free radicals actually do damage to the body. They are unattached molecules that roam the body looking to hook up with other unattached molecules. Unfortunately, they don't always hook up with the right ones and subsequently cause inflammation, aging, and carcinogenesis. They can be produced when the body is under stress.

Fortunately, we have mechanisms in our body created for dealing with these free radicals. There are several of these antioxidative systems in our body and they seem to like the smell of lavendar and rosemary just as much as we do!

So ladies, enjoy your bath and make sure you add a bit of essential oils of lavender and rosemary. Tell your partner's it's part of your stress management protocol!
