Answer to Menopause!

Some women experience few if any menopausal symptoms, whether they are in pre, peri, or post menopause, while others have to deal with dramatic fluctuations in health and mental well being. Each of us is unique in our biochemical makeup so our hormones fluctuate at different levels. Some women may have sudden drops in estrogen while others have a gradual reduction and this will dramatically affect how menopause is expressed.
Officially menopause is the end of menstruation. It can be celebrated the day you have gone twelve months without a period. In Chinese medicine, this time is called the Second Spring as it's like being re-born! Most women find, during this Second Spring, that they have an increase in energy and well-being and the symptoms that plagued them during the perimenopausal years slowly abate. However, again, as we all differ, some women may experience symptoms, like hot flashes, for several years after menopause. Check out some of the dietary suggestions on the symptoms page of this website if you do and make sure you are getting your phytoestrogenic foods and the right kind of exercise.
If you have no symptoms, hallelujah! Just don't rub it in to your friends who are! :)
