Everything You Wanted to Know about Irregular Periods...!
What's Happening to My Body?
One month your cycle is bang on. The next it's two weeks early and
barely a dribble. The one after that arrives 31 days later and you're
afraid you'll bleed out! What the blazes is happening?
p>Irregular periods are a very common occurrence for women heading in to
menopause. Whether you are experiencing spotting, heavy periods or find it
difficult to predict when your period will start, it is all part of the
perimenopausal experience.
Menopause is the cessation of the period for one year, but it is rare for a
women to be having a regular period and then suddenly stop for good.
Usually there is some hit and miss periods with some coming in shorter cycles
and some in longer. This is normal as some months the ovaries may not
produce an egg and hormone levels aren't where they usually are.
What can cause the ovary to not send off an egg? Stress
and emotional upheaval effect more than just your heart rate and blood
pressure. They can also impact hormone levels. A poor diet, low in
vital nutrients can also cause fluctuations. What can you do?
1. See your health care practitioner to rule out anything more serious.
2. Make sure your diet is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes.
3. Ensure you are not suffering from any mineral deficiencies like iron,
magnesium and calcium. A hair mineral analysis can determine if you have
any of those challenges.
4. Incorporate soy products into your diet approximately three times a week.
5. Add fresh ground flaxseed into your diet. Sprinkle on cereal, add to
muffins and breads or add a tablespoon to water and drink immediately.
6. Check to make sure you're getting enough exercise, aerobic exercise four
times a week and weight training at least twice.
7. Follow a naturopathic guideline for optimum preventative gynecological
health. Take a high quality multi mineral vitamin, pharmaceutical grade
fish oil, and a liquid calcium magnesium supplement.
